"Water Footprint" refers to the volumes of water and pollution behind each person's daily consumption; and it is much larger than you think! Humanity's water footprint has already exceeded sustainable levels, and it is being unequally distributed. Today, more than 1 billion people lack any access to water. Yet, most of us take it for granted, waste it, and even pay too much money to drink it from little plastic bottles.
If we don't take action, the U.N. estimates that by 2025, 1.8 billion people will experience absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world will be living under water-stressed conditions.
